University Of Western Cape Journalism, The Media Relations Office at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) is a 24/7, full-service news operation available to news media representatives. We serve as the liaison between the press and the university, fielding media requests and pitching the good news about what is happening at UWC. We also help reporters find expert sources for breaking news and analysis of current events. We provide:

Media Information and Guidelines

Campus Access for Media

Members of the media are welcome to the University of the Western Cape campus. Visits are facilitated through the Media Relations Office, 021 959 2625.

We encourage members of the media to ask permission for access to all university facilities including classrooms, medical facilities, laboratories and residence halls.

Broadcast crews are encouraged to obtain prior permission from the Office of Media Relations to videotape or broadcast live from campus since broadcast vehicles and equipment may interfere with traffic and/or university activities.

Commercial Photo/Video

All commercial, non-news photography or videotaping must be approved in advance by UWC’s Communications and Marketing Office, Trish Bam at 021 959 9352 or Luthando Tyhalibongo at 021 959 2625.

Photos for Media

Photographs are available to media upon request through the Media Relations Office. Email [email protected] or call 021 959 2625 for immediate assistance.

Other available resources include a database of high resolution photos of faculty, administration and campus.
