University Of The Witwatersrand Residences, At Wits, our residences are LIVING and LEARNING centres. We offer a wide variety of residence accommodation, ranging from single-gender residences, catering residence, to mixed-gender residences.
Campus Housing and Residence Life, is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the University’s residence programme, including accommodation and meals, and the provision of recreational facilities and programmes for the improved academic performance and the holistic development of students within a residential environment.

Residence students
If you have received an offer of admission to residence and have accepted it, you are required to arrive at your allocated residence on the dates below.
New first year undergraduates
Saturday 27 January (09:00 to 16:00) or Sunday 28 January (09:00 to 12:00)
(Places not taken up by 12:00 on Monday 29 January will be reallocated to applicants on the waiting list. If you are unable to take up your place on time, please call us on 011 717 9172/3/4)
Returning undergraduates
Thursday 1 February to Saturday 3 February (08:00 to 16:00 daily)

Postgraduate students (new and returning)
Please contact the Accommodation Officer of your residence to confirm your arrival dates and times.
We regret that because the number of residence applications exceeds the number of residence vacancies, applicants who do not receive written confirmation of an offer of a place in a residence will need to arrange private accommodation off campus.
