University Of Pretoria Residence Zinnia
University Of Pretoria Residence Zinnia, House Zinnia is the youngest female residence at the University of Pretoria. It first saw light at the beginning of 2003. Before that it was a mixed hostel, but now it is the lovely ladies’ residence. Zinnia is situated on the beautiful Groenkloof Campus. The name Groenkloof is not ironically chosen as the whole campus is green and can be compared to a beautiful picnic area. It is a home to the 3 other residences on the campus, a few ducks and all sorts of exquisite birds who all enjoy Groenkloof’s aesthetic appeal, with the dam in mind.
Our motto is “Sed eadem licentia mutari” and it’s meaning is very sacred to us, it is therefore something we only share with our beautiful Pixies and Fairies. Every Pixie and Fairy has an inner passion to do the best they can, and we cantruly say that the House motivates and inspires them to take that passion and make it happen.
House Zinnia’s colour is orange!!! If you are not a fan of orange, do not fear. We can guarantee you will easily adapt and within the first few weeks it could become one of your favourites. We are passionate about ORANGE as it is a bright and lively colour that ensures that we are visible from metres away. House Zinnia is a great big orange wave of Pixies and Fairies that spread our magical presence all around the University of Pretoria.
Our mascot is the lovely and enchanting Disney Character Tinker Bell. With her sparkling personality, she motivates and inspires all the Pixies and Fairies of House Zinnia to spread their wings and reach for the stars. Even though Tink is so small and fragile she is a force to be recon with. Just like Zinnia, Tink will be 14 this year but even though we are still one of the youngest residences we are a magnificent res that fearlessly conquer every challenge we meet.
