MUT Office Management And Technology, the Department of Office Technology aims to produce trendsetting, competent office professionals who will be standard bearers for the department, such that it will be recognised for its high standards and expertise at a regional and national level.

The Department of Office Technology will meet the needs of its students by offering high quality, relevant, up-to-date programmes, which cover the needs of the fast-paced world of electronic commerce.

The department strives to:

  • Provide our students with a broad background in business management and office administration as well as helping them to develop a good understanding of general business principles, concepts and practices.
  • Empower our students by introducing them to the systems and procedures of office administration and automation and expanding their knowledge and understanding such that they will easily be able to take up appointments upon graduation.

PURPOSE OF THE COURSE

This course aims to produce graduates with professional administrative and communication skills who are a marketable product and more than capable of performing administrative office duties. It is intended for those students wishing to become administrative assistants at an intermediate level in any sector of the economy. At the end of the programme, students will be able to provide independent and competent management support, which enables them to plan and execute tasks creatively, professionally and efficiently.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The minimum entrance requirements are a senior certificate or equivalent with an “E” (HG), and a “D” symbol in English (Standard Grade). NCS – English level 4.

WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING

It is compulsory for our students to undertake Work Integrated Learning (WIL) or in-service training with local companies. This ensures our graduates can function as an active member of an office team as well as providing them with hands-on experience of the office environment. By reinforcing the theoretical concepts encountered in the academic environment, WIL promotes knowledge application, skills development and the formulation of a professional attitude towards work and the work environment.
